How To Make FRIED POTATOES AND ONIONS

  • Enough peanut oil to wet the entire bottom of your pan
  • 2 tbs unsalted sweet cream butter
  • 1 lb Idaho Russet or Red potatoes (I like Reds – but that is just a personal preference)
  • Salted water
  • ½ medium sized sweet onion like Vidalia
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Garnish with paprika and fresh basil

Instructions:

  1. Place a heavy 9” cast iron skillet over medium heat (just a little more than medium on my electric stove).
Pour oil into the skillet and add the butter as well.
  2. Allow this to heat until the oil is shimmery on the surface – not smoking – if it starts to smoke, pull it off the heat and let it cool some until it is shimmery again.

How To Make Stuffed Pepper Soup

If you love stuffed peppers, you will love this as a soup. It takes minimal effort and can be made in 45 min start to finish (with most of the time simmering so all the wonderful flavors can meld together).

The ingredient list is also not very long, with the main ingredients as ground beef, onion, bell peppers, and white rice.

Is this soup freezer-friendly? I will say that after some recipe testing, this soup will not freeze well with the rice as the rice can become mushy once thawed and reheated. If you plan to freeze, I recommend freezing without the rice, adding it in prior to serving. It will make all the difference.

My only ask is to serve with crusty bread, a light salad, and a sprinkling of mozzarella cheese right on top.

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp olive oil, divided
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

How To Make Goulash Recipe

Okay, what I’m about to tell you may seem a little weird. I’ve never made goulash before this. I know, I know, it’s pretty standard fare. I have certainly eaten my fair share, and I’ve made lots and lots of Hamburger Helper, which this dish kind of reminds me of.

I’ve just never made it before, and I don’t know why. Anyway, that is why you will have to believe me when I say anyone can make it. It’s simple enough to get it right the first time. This is a yummy, comforting dish. In fact, while I was taking pictures of the bowlful, I kept going back to the pot and taking a bite! Bad, bad, bad. Not too bad, though, because I made it with ground turkey instead of ground beef. I never missed the beef.

I started with Bobby Deen’s recipe (here), but I changed it up quite a bit. As I said, I used ground turkey instead of beef. I also made some adjustments to the spices, and I added a kick with a little bit of red pepper flake. I also made less, using a pound of meat instead of three.

Try my version, or try Bobby’s, but definitely make this inexpensive yet simple and hearty meal for your family.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 pound ground turkey sausage
  • 1/2 cup of finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 pound ground turkey

How To Make Sliced Baked Potatoes

Don’t Lose This Recipe

Benefits of Baking Potato Slices Over Other Cooking Methods:

Baked potato slices have been a favorite for many because of the combination of a crispy exterior and a soft, fluffy interior. But why choose baking over other cooking methods? Let’s dive into the benefits:

  • Health Benefits: Baking requires significantly less oil compared to deep frying. By baking potato slices, you reduce the amount of saturated fats making it a healthier alternative. As mentioned in the bake sliced potatoes recipe, they use lesser oil, which is great if you are counting calories.
  • Consistent Cooking: When baking, heat is evenly distributed ensuring that every potato slice is consistently cooked. This is especially important to achieve that desired crispy exterior and soft inside.
  • Ease and Simplicity: Baking potato slices is straightforward. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or a beginner in the kitchen, the process is easy to follow. Furthermore, cleanup is a breeze especially when using foil or parchment paper.
  • Versatility in Flavor: Baking allows for even absorption of seasonings. You can get creative with herbs and spices to make your potato slices stand out. From rosemary and garlic to more exotic flavors, the possibilities are endless.
  • Serving for a Crowd: Baking potato slices is a convenient method especially when serving for large groups. You can prepare multiple batches, lay them out on trays, and let the oven do its magic.
  • Retains Nutrients: High temperatures from methods like frying can often lead to loss of vital nutrients. Baking retains more vitamins and minerals, ensuring you get the most nutritional value out of your potatoes.

How To Make Chinese Pepper Steak

Ingredients:

4 steaks

10 g butter (or 2 Teaspoons)

8 cl of dry white wine (or 1.6 teaspoons)

5 teaspoons of whole liquid cream ( 30% fat )

1 dash of mustard

Pepper from the mill

2 Tablespoons of mignonette pepper

1 teaspoon of veal stock

1/4 teaspoons of cognac or champagne

2 tbsp. grapeseed oil

Salt or fine salt

Preparation:

  1. In a plate put a little salted oil and in another the mignonette of white pepper.
  2. Pass each steak in the oil and then in the mignonette (this is a little trick to keep the pepper well stuck to the meat).
  3. Heat a frying pan over high heat with a knob of butter and a tablespoon of grapeseed oil, then when the steaks are ready to be milled, place them in the pan and sear them well on both sides.
  4. When the cooking will meet your expectations (blue, rare, or medium-rare) remove them to a separate dish, cover them with aluminum foil to keep them warm, and let the meat rest so that the juices can be released and the meat can tenderize.

How To Make Chicken Spaghetti Casserole

For some reason or other, this seems to be a favorite of the men in my family.
YUM! We loved this. I made it with 1 lb of spag..so increased the soup to 2 cans, de-boned a rotisserie chicken (approx 4 cups) and doubled the veggies only increased the cheese by 1/2 cup and it was so good and creamy!

Good recipe! I used canned chicken and since I didn’t have cheddar cheese on hand, I used a pizza blend shredded cheese. Yummy!

We enjoyed this. It is a good recipe to use up left-over chicken. Instead of pimentos, I used sliced green olives with pimentos.

I loved this recipe because it was different from other casseroles. I added a can of Rotel tomatoes and had to add chicken broth to make this come together well. It was delicious and I will definitely make it again.

Ingredients:

2 cups chopped cooked chicken breast

2 cups uncooked spaghetti noodles, broken into 2-inch pieces (about 7 ounces)

1 cup (1/4-inch-thick) slices celery

1 cup chopped red bell pepper..
