Fried Potatoes Onions And Smoked Polish Sausage

Getting crispy potatoes can be a gastronomic triumph! But how do you achieve it? Well, you can actually skip the boiling phase and head straight for frying. When you fry unboiled potatoes, you’ll find that they turn out much crispier.

Uniformity is crucial too. Be meticulous in cutting the potatoes to roughly the same size; this ensures they all cook at the same rate. Trust me, nothing spoils a dish faster than unevenly cooked potatoes.

Now let’s talk temperature. A hot oil bath—think 350-375°F—is your ticket to the crispy outer layer you’re yearning for. And what about the type of potatoes, you ask? Russets have high-starch content, making them ideal for frying.

Timing is key. Overcook them and you’ll end up with potato crisps; undercook them and they might be mushy. A precise cooking time keeps the texture on point.

Ingredients:

  • 2 large onions cut into wedges
  • 1 pound of Cajun smoked sausage
  • 2 pounds of baby red potatoes halved

Hamburger Steak with Creamy Onion Gravy

The best part in the ever popular hamburger is the steak itself. Tender, juicy and full of flavour, you wouldn’t deny the offer of just having the hamburger steak with some creamy mashed potatoes, right?

I’m glad to share my super easy recipe of this amazingly yummy hamburger steaks with onion gravy. It’s aromatic and tastes great as well ! You may use this recipe on one of your barbecue parties and I’m sure it would be a hit. Ensure you serve them fresh and do not reheat it and have as the steak would go dry from inside. The key is to ensure it is cooked perfectly for that juicy steak. The skillet or the barbecue should be heated well before placing the steaks, once you place them, cook over medium heat or it would get charred from outside and undercooked inside. Also, ensure the patties are of equal portions to ensure consistent cooking time. You can strain the gravy for a smooth feel if you prefer so. Serve everything hot with a creamy bowl of mashed potatoes and some salad. Enjoy that perfect meal ! You are welcome !

Ingredients :

For the Patties:

  • 3 tablespoons of cooking oil (canola, vegetable)
  • 1-1/2 pounds of 80/20 ground chuck
  • 3/4 cup of onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon Tiger Sauce, or hot pepper sauce, or to taste, optional
  • 1 teaspoon of seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoons freshly cracked black pepper
  • About 1/3 cup of all purpose flour, for dipping the patties

For the Gravy:

  • 1 large onion, halved and sliced (about 3 cups sliced)
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/4 cup of all purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon of seasoned salt, or to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper, or to taste

Old Fashioned Salmon Patties

My mom loved salmon patties (also known as a salmon cake recipe) and as a matter of fact, I remember her cooking them quite a bit as a kid. She’d whip them up lickety-split and have them on the table ready to go in no time.

My husband requested Southern Salmon Patties the other night and I got a can of pink salmon from Aldi’s grocery store and got to work.

You can find canned salmon at just about any grocery store and it was very inexpensive at Aldi’s.

With the exception of the canned salmon, I had all of the ingredients here at the house, which helped make it a very inexpensive main dish.

Furthermore, I didn’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen, so I made this recipe as easy as possible.

Need some sides? Try one of these delicious recipes with your salmon patties.

Ingredients:

1 (6 oz) drained can of skinless and boneless pink salmon.

2 tbsps of diced onion.

A good pinch of salt and pepper.

1 large egg.

1 tbsp of buttermilk.

2 tbsps of cornmeal.

4 tbsps of all purpose flour.

Vegetable oil for frying.
