Onion Butter Recipe

  1. Prepare the Onions:
    • Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
    • Add the finely diced onions and sauté until they become translucent and golden brown, about 8-10 minutes.
    • Add minced garlic and continue to sauté for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
    • Remove the pan from heat and let the onion-garlic mixture cool to room temperature.
  2. Mixing with Butter:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, sautéed onions, garlic, salt, black pepper, and dried thyme (if using).
    • Use a spatula or a hand mixer to blend the ingredients together until well combined.
  3. Shape and Store:
    • Place a sheet of plastic wrap on a flat surface.
    • Spoon the onion butter mixture onto the plastic wrap and shape it into a log or any desired shape.
    • Roll the plastic wrap around the butter, twisting the ends to secure it.
    • Refrigerate the onion butter for at least 1-2 hours or until firm.
  4. Serve:
    • Once the onion butter is firm, unwrap it and slice into rounds or chunks.
    • Use the onion butter on bread, rolls, grilled meats, vegetables, or any dish where a burst of savory flavor is desired.
