Condensation can be defined as a very thin layer of water that covers windows when cold and warm air come into contact. The same thing, if you think about it, happens when you take a glass bottle out of the refrigerator: this wet halo is created on the surface of the bottle. The same thing happens on our window panes: outside the air is very cold, inside it is hot. The windows will start to fill with condensation. There is a simple way to prevent it from forming and the solution will amaze you.
If we want to definitively eliminate the creation of condensation, we must say goodbye to thermal bridges . You don’t all know what thermal bridges are, we’ll explain it to you. Thermal bridges are given by the elements that make up our window, such as the frame (iron frame) or the marble supports under the window frame. Practically in every Italian house there is a marble sill at the base of the window. You will surely have noticed that this marble slab is always cold, precisely because it acts like a bridge, it takes the outside temperature and brings it inside.
This is what causes a thermal bridge:
it brings the outside temperature inside the house and causes the creation of condensation on the window panes. Mold is born precisely from these condensations, and this happens especially if we do not ventilate the house well. We can therefore say that if there are no thermal bridges, mold will not be created.
