How To Make Walking Taco Casserole

These walking taco casseroles are absolutely delicious. Forget the casserole dish and put all of the ingredients into individual fritos bags for a fun dinner on a camping trip!

This walking taco casserole combines your favorite ingredients from a walking taco into a delicious casserole. Taco meat is layered in a baking dish with Frito chips, cheddar cheese soup and shredded Mexican cheese blend. Once the casserole has finished baking, it is topped off with lettuce and tomato. If you want to add some beans to this dish, you can mix refried beans or black beans right in with the ground beef mixture. You can serve this recipe with sour cream and salsa if you would like. Enjoy.
Check out this super tasty Walking Taco Casserole Recipe. Succulent ground beef is the key ingredient in this Walking Taco Casserole Recipe.
The only changes I’ve made to this dish over the years is adding onion to the ground beef, a layer of taco sauce or salsa to juice it up a bit, and a smidge more sour cream and cottage cheese

1 lb Ground chicken, beef or turkey

1 Packet of Taco seasoning

How To Make Delicious Homemade Egg Rolls

If you love Chinese food, then these homemade egg rolls are going to be the best thing you will ever make. I have always been a fan of Chinese food and instead of takeout’s, I try recipes from the internet for my family’s weekend meals. The best part about the egg rolls is that you can make them in batches and save them for future use. You can freeze them in an airtight container and just fry them whenever you need.

I have been serving them with tea or coffee whenever I have guests at home. Mostly my filling is pork and veggies but you can use the same recipe for chicken as well. As kids mostly love this crispy treat with chicken and veggies so you can make an extra batch for them. Just like pizza night, Chinese night is also a must in our house. So, I tried this recipe many years ago and have made it into perfection.

Firstly, you should know that making these crispy homemade egg rolls is very easy. The tricky thing is to make sure that the egg rolls are properly rolled and stick together. I will guide you through this recipe that will make sure you can enjoy the best egg rolls with your Chinese food. I have been making some Chinese rice, stir fry, Chowmein, or even some comforting noodles with it.

Try the recipe once and everyone will love it. You can even serve it with some sauce but I think the overall taste is perfect and does not need extra flavors.

Ingredients:

  • Garlic minced 3 cloves
  • Ground pork 1 pound
  • Vegetable oil 1 tbsp and Vegetable oil for frying
  • Sesame oil 1 tbsp
  • Soya sauce 2 tbsp

Coconut Cake with Seven-minute Frosting

Grandmama’s Homemade Coconut Cake is a from scratch cake with decadent (and no fail) 7 minute icing. This is a favorite of our family for holidays and special occasions year round. I found it in an old box of papers that belonged to my grandmother. She had typed it out on letterhead from the company where she worked and later came back, circled it, and wrote in “Real good”. After trying it for myself, I had to agree! When it comes to moist cakes, this is the mother of them all. If a crumb drops from your fork, don’t be surprised if you find your finger chasing it around your plate – it’s just that good.

Top it off with no fail seven minute frosting and a sprinkling of coconut and prepare yourself for a coconut cake experience unlike any other! One of the great things about Grandmama’s seven minute frosting is that you don’t need a double boiler to make it and you can forget fretting over whether or not the weather is dry enough – this comes out perfect every time regardless. If you’re making a layer cake and you like generous amounts of frosting, I suggest doubling the frosting recipe.

This cake has become one of the break out hits from my third cookbook, Sweetness. I’ve received so many emails saying the price of the cookbook was worth it for this one recipe alone. And if that wasn’t recommendation enough, my mother’s friends tell me this is the recipe she tells everyone that they just “have” to make first the moment they get that cookbook.

Ingredients:

1-1/2 c. Sugar,

2 Tbsp corn syrup,

1/4 c.water,

6 egg whites,

tsp. Vanilla

How To Make Chinese Pepper Steak

Ingredients:

4 steaks

10 g butter (or 2 Teaspoons)

8 cl of dry white wine (or 1.6 teaspoons)

5 teaspoons of whole liquid cream ( 30% fat )

1 dash of mustard

Pepper from the mill

2 Tablespoons of mignonette pepper

1 teaspoon of veal stock

1/4 teaspoons of cognac or champagne

2 tbsp. grapeseed oil

Salt or fine salt

Preparation:

  1. In a plate put a little salted oil and in another the mignonette of white pepper.
  2. Pass each steak in the oil and then in the mignonette (this is a little trick to keep the pepper well stuck to the meat).
  3. Heat a frying pan over high heat with a knob of butter and a tablespoon of grapeseed oil, then when the steaks are ready to be milled, place them in the pan and sear them well on both sides.
  4. When the cooking will meet your expectations (blue, rare, or medium-rare) remove them to a separate dish, cover them with aluminum foil to keep them warm, and let the meat rest so that the juices can be released and the meat can tenderize.

How To Make Best Scalloped Potatoes

Scalloped Potatoes are a classic dish with layers of potatoes and rich creamy cheese sauce on repeat! The ingredients are simple in these Scalloped Potatoes recipe but they are the perfect from scratch side dish to Easter, Christmas, or Thanksgiving!

Not even necessarily about recipes on my blog, just cooking in general. I absolutely don’t mind at all. I love to help when I can. But my phone is literally blowing up with texts and emails.

That’s not even counting all of the comments on my blog. I respond to every single question in the comments on my blog and sometimes that can be up to 100 a day. Phew.

I have other blogger friends that tell me that they always tackle comments in the morning when they’re fresh and ready for the day. Not me.

We all know by now that mornings don’t like me and vice versa. My husband and I don’t talk until at least 10AM to keep things tranquil. He’s not a morning person either. We’re quite the combo.

So you could imagine what kind of response I would write to the person asking me if they can replace the cup of sugar in the cookies with a cup of salt if I responded in the morning.

No bueno. I decided a long time ago that nighttime is the best time. I’m a lot nicer.

Ingredients:

4 cups thinly sliced potatoes
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons flour

3 INGREDIENT CROCKPOT BBQ CHICKEN WINGS

These Crockpot Chicken Wings are the easiest appetizer of all time. You only need chicken wings and some BBQ sauce. For an amazing finished product, finish them off on the grill or under the broiler. Tasty little devils.

CROCKPOT CHICKEN WINGS
Today I am sharing with you a wonderfully simple Crockpot Chicken Wings recipe! So, I’m not quite sure what came over me and why I wanted to eat chicken wings so so badly the other day, but that’s the reality of my life. I’ve stopped asking questions and just go with the flow…most of the time.

Why use a Crockpot?

I pulled out my crockpot and not the deep fryer because

Ew. I hate the smell that lingers in my house from deep frying
Set it and forget it!!
But most importantly: my thighs don’t need any help getting larger.

HOW TO MAKE CHICKEN WINGS IN A CROCKPOT

Toss chicken wings in salt, pepper and 1/2 cup bbq sauce.
Place into the crockpot and cook 2-3 hours until fully cooked but not falling off the bone.
Remove from the crockpot, baste generously and grill or broil until the skin toasts up and the bbq sauce caramelizes.
Serve with celery, carrots and blue cheese dip.

OTHER CHICKEN WING SAUCES
Hot Sauce + Butter – as I mentioned above, this is the classic hot wing combination. Super delicious, especially with that blue cheese dip!
Honey + Garlic -a simple, flavorful and mild option for wings. Extra sticky, but very delicious.

How To Make Big Apple Fritters

I was trying to replicate the Apple Fritters that the convenience store chain, QuikTrip, used to have. The ones they have now are just not the same. This recipe came darn close with the couple of modifications I made. As suggested, I doubled the nutmeg and added 1 tea. Cinnamon. I also increased the sugar to 1/3 cup. As suggested by another reviewer, I diced the apples and microwaved them for 4 minutes, then put them, liquid and all, into the batter and dropped the batter in 1/4 cupfuls into hot oil. Instead of dusting with sugar when done, I made a glaze of 1 cup confectioner’s sugar, 1 Tbsp. light corn syrup and 2 Tbsp. water, and drizzled that over the fritters. It dries to a sweet, slightly hard and crunchy glaze on the fritter. My husband says these are closer to the old QT fritters than what they have in the store now, but could be fried just a bit thinner and crispier. Next time I’ll add one more apple and see if that doesn’t thin the cakey-ness down just a hair. Great recipe!

Ingredients:

3 cups all-purpose flour

1½ cups sugar

3 teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

¾ teaspoon Apple Pie Spice

2 large eggs

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 Tablespoons butter, softened

1½ cups peeled, chopped apples

Oil for frying

Confectioners sugar
