Cherry Cheese Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 ¼ cups flour
  • ⅔ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest
  • ¾ cup cold butter
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ cup sour cream (or plain yogurt)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese (not spreadable)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz)

Instructions:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom & sides of a 9″ springform pan or Line a 9×9 pan (must be at least 2″ deep) with parchment paper.
  • Combine flour, sugar & lemon zest in a large bowl. Cut in butter until crumbly. Remove â…” cup of this mixture and set aside.
  • Add baking soda, baking powder and salt to the remaining crumb mixture. Mix in egg, sour cream or yogurt and vanilla. Press into prepared pan.

Filling:

  • Combine softened cream cheese, egg, lemon juice and sugar until well mixed. Pour over crust. Top with cherry pie filling. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture over top.
  • Bake 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool completely.
